i thought about writing a bit about how i usually miss these events and then feel bad about not going, and, and, and… no one cares… but the agadir block party by the dolores crew (probably the most important thing that happened to the israeli skateboarding scene in the past few years) is really simple.
skateboarding, hip hop, live shows, burgers and beers. a great way to start a holiday!

life according to Ortega
When Ortega called me to say he’s working on a new album I was excited, I knew he’s cooking up something serious. When we first started working together he was a new player in, a local rap prodigy, now he’s one of the leading rappers in the game, and in the past ten years he’s been everywhere, on every small and big stage in the country, shows abroad, television, radio, solo performances and collaborations with the biggest names in the underground as well as mainstream musicians.
this weekend he’s celebrating the release of his new album with guests in a killer show that I’m personally very excited about

helvetica in hebrew
yesterday, after i posted the “raps” post, i got in the mood to get more involved with this pe’er project, so i made this graphic:
of course i don’t have a font in hebrew i like working with, and more than that, a font that would work well if i’m writing also in english. so i started playing around with the helvetica letters and Im actually pretty happy with this.
and then i thought i should try doing the whole alphabet, and that was today’s mission.
i started out, got a first draft, sent it to my friend, feedback was good, but he was right, it needed more work, and more work it got. and here’s what i came up with:

raps
2012 started with a great revival in israeli rap. Pe’er is reminding israeli ears what raps were like not long ago in a more luxurious time, not measured by wealth (god forbid) but by quality, and a feeling of working together and getting something new done.
my very good friends from the Parvarim Refugeez and the PR Trooperz got together and opened this amazing and open project, everyone can contribute a beat or a verse, a logo, a thought or a concept, and i feel left out, because Im so far away. So i just wanted to say that i miss new raps, and i miss taking pictures of rappers.

disconnection 102fm
two dear friends of mine, ori and alarm, ran the best hip-hop radio show in israel for years. it’s actually more than that, they ran the best hip-hop in israel for years; producing for and performing with the leading rappers, playing all over the world, organizing the sickest parties and creating a connection between the israeli hip hop community and the international hip hop scene. their show, the connection (ha-chibur) got canceled… too bad for the radio station. we’ll keep connecting on their blog.
what now? stay connected!
