i thought about writing a bit about how i usually miss these events and then feel bad about not going, and, and, and… no one cares… but the agadir block party by the dolores crew (probably the most important thing that happened to the israeli skateboarding scene in the past few years) is really simple.
skateboarding, hip hop, live shows, burgers and beers. a great way to start a holiday!

haPussy Shel Lucy (lucy’s pussy) is no doubt one the most influential and important bands to come out of the Israeli punkrock scene. but their story and their history isn’t important for this post (as interesting as it may be, and it really is) but what’s important is that their new album kicks ass! you can hear it here, and their show a couple of nights ago was so good, musically, the vibes, the crowd, the guests, everything was perfect.
time to join the revolution!
when i first met with Shula and Omer to talk about their wedding, we hardly talked about their wedding, we hardly even talked about wedding photography, we talked for easily two hours maybe even longer without noticing, about food, about cooking, about baking, how they met working in the same restaurant, we went over Omer’s instagram account filled with pictures of amazing and exotic ingredients in the kitchen, I showed them my food blog, showed off my new kitchen, we also talked a little about the punkrock scene, and how I know Shula for about a decade now, about world travel, living abroad, having kids, twerking and dancing on poles.
talking about kids was very relevant for me, because my baby girl was just 4 days old when they came to visit, and Shula made us the most amazingly rich chocolate with chocolate crust pie with caramelized nuts and crunchy toffee. when it was getting late, and it was time to leave, they told me their date and venue and that was it.
the pie Shula made and we only ate after they left was automatically crowned as on of the best pieces of pastry my wife and I can remember and Omer also invited us to dine at the Social Club where he cooks and where we took the pictures and it also received a very warm spot in our hearts, a place we really enjoy returning to for dinner or even just a quick bite and a cocktail.

yesterday’s group exhibition kinda went over my head. I wasn’t excited about it, wasn’t looking forward to it , and when i found out it was yesterday, i was even a bit surprised. Yaniv who organized it this exhibition and most of the coolest skateboard and music related exhibitions in tel aviv in the past decade was really organized, sent everyone tons of messages to bring in the work, i received the messages as well, but didn’t hand in my work.
until I met a friend yesterday who said my name is on flyer… and all day i’ve been complaining about being excluded from all these cool skateboard related activities.
so after having a beer, i rode as fast as i could back to my studio, and back into town to hand in my work just a couple of hours before the exhibition was scheduled to open.
when i got there i was really happy i came and even happier i took part.
it was a great exhibition and a great evening, going out and seeing everyone in the middle of the week is not as bad as it sounds.
I can’t remember when i was so excited about a show like i was a couple of nights ago when Queen Sea Big Shark from beijing came to play in ningbo.
I haven’t heard about them before, but i started to listen to their stuff a couple of weeks before they came, there was a lot of hype building up for this show and they totally delivered. They’re music is awesome and if you haven’t heard of them, i highly suggest you check them out. their website has music and other links.
and if you get a chance to see them play live, you should definitely make the effort.
we got to hang out with them a bit before the show and to party like no one’s got anything better to do on a tuesday night and it’s so refreshing to be this excited about new music.
